I went to Clubfest to check out all the various clubs that Iowa State has to offer because I wanted to get more involved and to join something that I am interested in. Surprisingly, I wasn't impressed with Clubfest at all. I know there are tons of different clubs and organizations, but it was hard for me to find one I was passionate about.
A friend of mine is in the nutrition club and told me I should check it out. I stopped at the weight lifting clubs booth just because I like to work out, but that didn't seem like it was worth joining to me.
After circling Clubfest 4 times and failing to find something I was really interested in, I decided to take up the offer of my friend and and stop by the nutrition club's booth. I signed up for the emails and talked with them about 'nutrition' for a bit and decided it's worth a shot.
I found out that the nutrition club does a lot of community service projects like Meals on Wheels and stuff like that, and I thought that was really good for me because I need to start getting involved in the community. It's only $5.00 to join and get snacks and the meetings, so it's really cheap (something I like a lot!) and the meetings are very casual and fun (so I've heard). I have tried to get to the meetings but they always seem to be on Mondays when I'm in class or working so it has been hard to actually get to go one.
I think this club is really good because I like to stay healthy and it will get me involved in the community. It will not only help me academically by getting involved but help me stay healthy and eat right for life.
