All the practices, weight lifting, and early morning off-season practices lead up to your senior season of football. This is what you’ve dreamed of as a little kid and this is the last time you will ever play on your schools football field. This is when your hard work and dedication makes you the best you’re going to be.
The beginning of the season didn’t start off the way we wanted it to, but it was a good time to get better and learn from our mistakes. The mistakes we did make were small ones that could be fixed. As the season went on we learned from our mistakes and by the end of the season, we were playing our best football.
The last few games of the season I had played my best at running the ball, blocking, and getting my reads to tackle at linebacker. The team and I were playing well as we entered the post-season, and we felt confident in our abilities to move on. Even though we thought we were at our best, we still lost a tough, hard hitting game by one point in the final seconds. It was a tough game to deal with because we all knew that we should have won that game because we were the better team.
By playing sports in high school, I learned about hard work, dedication, and teamwork that will carry on through college. It doesn’t matter in the end if you won or lost but that you can truly say you did your best and gave it everything you had to give.
It is good that you look back and say that it doesn't matter whether you won or lost its about how you gave it your best. Most people wouldn't be able to admit that. They would still be living in the past saying that they still should have won and blaming it on the refs.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you truly gave all you had to give on and off the football field. It seems like your team did too. Those qualities that you learned from football will most definately help you in the years to come.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably hard to lose that game. It's still really good that you guys gave it your best throughout the season. That way you can look back and know you actually tried your hardest so there's nothing to be ashamed of.
ReplyDeleteSimple but very effective story. Some people dont give it their all, but you didnt give up, GOOD FOR YOU MAN!
ReplyDeleteI feel that I wouldnt be the same person today if I hadn't participated in sports in high school. There are so many things you gain through them such as winning isn't everything. Its great to see that you can look back and see the more important things you accomplished.
ReplyDeleteI love the very end of this because you are absolutely right. It doesn't matter what the end result is. It's everything in between that matters the most because it's the only thing you will ever truly need in your future endeavors. Great closing to your story!
ReplyDeleteI played softball and the ones we lost but were really challenging are the ones i remember the most, not the easy ones.
ReplyDeleteI played a lot of sports in high school and can related to that agony of defeat. It is good however that you tried your best.
ReplyDeleteGiving everything you have to give is a great motto to live by. It is the only way to get above and beyond in any aspect of life. If you want to succeed, giving your all is a great goal to strive for.
ReplyDeleteThis is basically just like my summer. I spent 3 months on tour training and competing and we had our goal of making it into world finals. We were up against a rival and lost by .3 which is basically a tie, but it ended our season early and we didn't make finals. It was dissappointing because we definately out performed them too.
ReplyDeletewow, Jasenn i definetly like your thought on life. If you keep up that attitude you will go far. So keep up that good attitude.
ReplyDeleteI like how you learned a lesson from it. Have you ever heard that quote, "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game."? If you can take the larger message from that game and apply it in every day life, you'll go far. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have been more active in high school. I only played golf. Keep doing your best.
ReplyDeletePS, why is there a handicapp logo next to the password evertime I post a comment. Is someone trying to tell me something? Sorry for the tangent
Last year I had study hall with a couple guys from my class, and they always filled me in on the high school football games from around the state. They talked about the Dike - New Hartford team a lot towards the end of the season, and they analyzed your last game. It sounded like it would've been amazing to watch! Congrats on your season! It sounded phenomenal.
